Narnia Activities/Projects for the Classroom
Secret Scrapbook
Put together a scrapbook of pictures as if it were a secret book created by the characters in the Chronicles of Narnia. Use the characters, creatures and experiences from the series. You can focus on one portion of the chronicles or use elements from all of them. Accompany each photo with a description of the event it portrays.
Book vs. Movie
Watch one of the movie versions of The Chronicles of Narnia and write an essay describing the similarities and differences between the movie and the book.
Tell Your Own Story
Write a collection of pretend diary entries from your own exciting adventures in another world. Imagine that you stumbled upon a secret passage leading you into another world. Describe the fantasy about who you meet, what the settling is like and what experiences you have. Begin the entries explaining what happens to lead you into the alternative world and end the diary describing how you get back.
Character Analysis
Pick three characters from The Chronicles of Narnia and write an essay describing specific character traits of each of these characters. Explain what they experience and how it causes them to change over the course of the story. Then, compare yourself to each of the chosen characters from the chronicles. What do you have in common? What are your differences?
Imagery
C.S. Lewis's description of Narnia is full of rich imagery. From the stories you have read, illustrate your favorite passage from The Chronicles of Narnia. Then, briefly describe the event being portrayed in your illustration and explain why you chose this part.
